Field Coordinator (Farmers’ Trainer) – Duty Station: Nandi or Eldoret Areas

Overall Job Summary:

The incumbent will collaborate closely with Extension Agents, farmers’ organizations, and various stakeholders in agricultural value chains to ensure the effective delivery of digital advisory services. Reporting to the Country Head, Kenya, the candidate will play a pivotal role in the roll-out of products in the Kenyan market, specifically coordinating activities related to the digitization of farmer organizations and the successful implementation of e-extension advisory services through the Farmer Chatbot.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Coordination and Capacity Building:

  • Collaborate with Extension Agents and farmers’ organizations for effective implementation of the Farmer Chatbot and digital advisory services.
  • Conduct training and capacity-building sessions for Extension Agents and farmers’ organizations on utilizing digital tools and leveraging technology for improved agricultural practices.
  • Facilitate workshops and knowledge-sharing sessions with Country teams to enhance the technical skills of stakeholders in agricultural value chains.
  • Identify opportunities to create digital farmer networks in Kenya.

2. Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Liaise with government partners, consortium partners, research partners, technology teams, and internal team members to identify entry points for use cases.
  • Work with farmers and farmer organizations to enhance processes and outcomes through digitization.
  • Monitor implementation of entry point use cases, recommending adjustments as needed for alignment with strategic objectives.

3. Monitoring and Evaluation:

  • Monitor usage and adoption of DG’s products by farmers’ organizations and Extension Agents.
  • Oversee data collection processes at farmers’ organizations.
  • Gather feedback from Extension Agents and farmer organizations to enhance advisory content provided by the Farmer Chatbot.
  • Contribute to progress reports and project outcome assessments.

4. Communication and Reporting:

  • Regularly communicate project updates, challenges, and successes to Digital Green’s Country Head.
  • Collaborate with product teams to create relevant and accurate content for the Farmer Chatbot.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, Livestock Sciences, Rural Development, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in the agricultural sector, with a focus on capacity building and stakeholder engagement.
  • Strong understanding of agricultural value chains and rural development principles.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficiency in computer literacy, including the use of digital tools and applications.
  • Basic skills in data management and analysis are an added advantage.
