Basic Job Summary:
The Executive Director will assume a leadership role in developing, executing, administering, and managing all functions related to fundraising, support services, and stakeholder relations at Strathmore University.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Provide overall leadership, administration, and development of the Foundation.
- Lead the design, development, and implementation of the University’s fundraising and endowment strategies in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.
- Establish long-term and annual fundraising goals, objectives, and targets in consultation with key university figures.
- Develop and implement fundraising plans, ensuring clear roles and responsibilities, measurable metrics, and targets for self and staff.
- Maintain productive relationships with potential donors, managing a personal portfolio of high-value donors and achieving pre-agreed targets.
- Collaborate with university units to understand priorities and translate them into fundraising opportunities.
- Work with alumni in advancing relationships and involving them in fundraising priorities.
- Collaborate with marketing and communications teams for strategic promotion.
- Enhance the culture of fundraising and philanthropy across university units.
Minimum Academic Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in management or related field from an accredited institution.
- Certified Fund-Raising Executive (CFRE) or equivalent qualification with evidence of professional training in fundraising management.
Experience:
- Minimum six (6) years leading a fundraising team, preferably in higher education or the not-for-profit sector, raising a minimum of USD 3 million per annum.
- Evidence of developing innovative fundraising programs and successfully executing them to achieve targets.
- Experience in planning, implementing, managing, and concluding major fundraising campaigns.
- Knowledge of legal and ethical aspects of fundraising and alignment with university values.
- High-level contacts with leaders in local, international, non-profit, public, and private sectors.

- Excellent communication skills (oral and written) for various stakeholders.
