Job Summary: The Director of Public Transport Operations & Management is responsible for standards, registration, licensing, network management, compliance, and technical quality assurance in the Authority. The role involves coordinating and managing various aspects related to public transport within the designated area.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Developing, implementing, and reviewing policies, strategies, standards, procedures, and guidelines for Public Transport Operations.
- Coordinating and managing operations contracts, including Mass Rapid Transport System (MRTS) ticketing and fare collection systems.
- Managing MRTS stations, depots, and termini.
- Developing and implementing Public Transport Service and Fleet operations contracts.
- Coordinating and monitoring schedules, quality of service contracts, and financial administration of public transport programs.
- Overseeing the Traffic Management Centre (TMC) and Intelligent Traffic System (ITS).
- Regulating and licensing MRTS operators and drivers, ensuring compliance with set standards.
- Developing and implementing passenger information systems, communication network management, and enforcement programs.
- Coordinating projects and programs monitoring and evaluation.
Requirements for Appointment:
- Minimum of twelve (12) years relevant work experience, with at least four (4) in a senior management role.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Standardization, Engineering, Architecture, Urban Planning, Information Systems, Project Management, Law, Communication Technology, Computer Science, Digital System Design, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Information Technology, Finance, Security Management, or equivalent.
- Master’s Degree in Transport Economics, Transport Engineering, Transport Planning, Urban Planning/Design and Development, Business Administration, or equivalent qualification.
- Leadership Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks.
- Certificate in Project Management.
- Certificate in computer applications.
- Registered with an accredited and recognized professional body.
- Demonstrated competence in work performance.
- Fulfil the requirements of Chapter Six (6) of the Constitution of Kenya.
