DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

An officer at this level will be stationed at the County Headquarters and will report to the Chief Officer. The officer’s duties and responsibilities will include:

  1. Implementing the strategic plan and objectives of the Division.
  2. Managing technical, administrative, human resource, budgetary, and asset management matters.
  3. Collaborating with the Chief Officer to establish performance targets and standards, as well as fostering team building.
  4. Addressing stakeholders’ concerns and ensuring operational accountability.
  5. Integrating new initiatives into the Division’s work plans.
  6. Conducting cost-effective research to advance national and sectoral priorities.
  7. Modernizing and tailoring extension services to meet customer needs.
  8. Updating and streamlining technical training.
  9. Maximizing sustainable benefits from crop development activities.
  10. Developing and applying strategies to optimize land use for various purposes.
  11. Promoting value addition to agricultural produce.
  12. Enhancing cooperation between the Ministry and its State Corporations.
  13. Facilitating productive collaboration between the sector and local/international stakeholders.

REQUIREMENTS FOR APPOINTMENT

To be appointed to this grade, an officer must have:

  1. Served in the position of Assistant Director Agriculture or a comparable and relevant role in the Public Service or Private sector for a minimum of three (3) years.
  2. A Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in any of the following fields: Food Science, Home Economics, Agriculture, Horticulture, Agriculture Economics, Natural Resource Management, Agribusiness, Agriculture Extension, Agriculture Education, or any other relevant and equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
  3. Possession of a Master’s Degree in any of the mentioned fields is an added advantage.
  4. Demonstrated a high degree of professional and technical competence as evidenced by work performance and results.
  5. Certification in Computer Application Skills from a recognized institution.
